Here are my top ten locally-used Android apps, in no particular order:

• Foursquare – Check-ins, mayorships, and special Foursquare-only offers at some stores & restaurants are reasons to use this app.
• TweetCaster – Now that @ExploreSac is  on Twitter, I’ve found TweetCaster to be the best Twitter app for Android, hands down.
• Google Maps (+Navigation, Latitude & Places) – There are a few apps that come with Google Maps that make it a well rounded package.
• GasBuddy – Use this app to find the cheapest gas prices in your area. This has saved me money more than a few times.
• CraigsNotifica – As the name implies, this app is good for getting notifications on saved searches on Craigslist.
• Garage Sale Rover – Planning a garage sale outing using Craigslist can be a pain. This app plots the locations on a map. Amazing!
• Urbanspoon/Yelp – Both great for finding restaurants and reviews. Urbanspoon has a handy slot machine style randomizer to help decide where to eat.
• Groupon/Living Social – These two apps offer similar popular daily deals services that can help you get discounts to restaurants, stores, services & events.
• The Weather Channel – This is very convenient for knowing how to dress the kids in the morning without waiting for the news forecast or turning on the computer.

SacTweetup  - Unfortunately, we missed this event on April 15, 2011 at Cafeteria15L – The original monthly meetup in Sacramento for Twitter users, or anyone who is intesrested in socializing and knowing more about social media & social networking. Started by Alejandro Reyes (@alejandroreyes), it’s spawned some similar themed events in the area.
2. Elk Grove Tweetup - April 21, 2011 (5:30pm – 7:30pm) at the Coaches Restaurant inside Strikes Bowling in Elk Grove????? - Modeled after Alejandro’s SacTweetup, Elk Grovians Rodney Blackwell (@elkgroveca) and ???Krista Guerrero (@getkdm) have brought the tweetup to Elk Grove.
3. Food Truck Tweetup – April 26, 2011 (6:00pm – 8:00pm) – I’m not sure if this will be an official SacTweetup event, or if it’s still TBD, but the name was used in conjunction with the tweetup arranged with some local mobile food trucks – Drewski’s Hot Rod (@drewskishotrod) and Miniburger Truck (@miniburgertruck) - and the Sacramento Mobile Food Festival (@sactomofo), which will be on April 30, 2011.
4. News 10 Blog U – April 26, 2011 (6:00pm – 8:00pm) at 400 Broadway – This is an event catered toward bloggers who want to learn how to set up a successful blog. Alejandro Reyes is also involved with this event. Check this out if you want to connect with clients and customers, improve your social brand, or want to increase exposure.
5. Winning Local - April 28, 2011 (7:00pm – 9:30pm) at the Hyatt Regency on L Street - Another event put on by Alejandro Reyes, along with Taro Arai (@mikunitaro) and CJ Alvarado (@cjalvarado). Winning Local promises to be “the most inspring, un-boring business event in Sacramento!”

What is a “Mystery Pics” contest?

Basically, an abstract and/or closeup photo of a Sacramento-area landmark will be posted and members will guess the name of the landmark. Once a correct answer has been given, a new picture will be posted. Members with the most correct guesses at the end of the contest win some free food.
