My family and I attended the Pear Fair in Courtland, CA recently and it got me thinking about a couple things…

Of all the years I’ve lived in the Sacramento area (my whole life), I don’t recall ever having been to a food festival!

Now that I think about it, there are a lot of food festivals in the area, from the Pear Fair in Courtland to the Asparagus Festival in Stockton. I hear about them all the time, but never really paid much attention to them.

So, I decided to look into it and see how many I could find, within a reasonable distance, since they are typically family-friendly and we’re trying to do things that are fun, healthy and educational for our family.

Please note: Some of the dates are for 2011 and some are for 2012 – click the names of the fair/festival to go to its respective web site for the latest information.

It seems lately that hamburgers have been on my mind, what with last month being #SacBurgerMonth, mentions of The Squeeze Inn, SactoMoFo (Mobile Food Festival), and the Food Truck Tweetup featuring the MiniBurger Truck. I can’t seem to escape news of good burgers, and I’m not complaining!

It looks like there will be new locations opening for two of my favorite burger joints.

I recently learned of In-N-Out moving into the former Macaroni Grill location (closed in 2008) on Alta Arden Expressway between Fulton Ave and Ethan Way. SacRag seemed less than enthusiastic about the promise of the location. At first I thought it odd that it’s not right off of a freeway like most of their restaurants, but Bus. 80 and 160 are close enough, I guess… It’s practically across the street from Arden Fair Mall and I doubt Chick-Fil-A has regretted their decision to move in nearby. (See original article from the Sacramento Bee for more info)

The Squeeze Inn has expanded into West Sacramento, but now there’s word that they’ll be opening a restaurant in Midtown in October, according to CowTownEats! (See original article from Sacramento Press for more info). While still not the most convenient location for yours truly, it may be better than heading down past the tracks on Power Inn.

I’ll categorize this as a rumor, but one of the comments on SacBee.com mentioned Fatburger from L.A. looking for a location. I think the closest current location is in Lincoln, CA.

What do you think of these new locations?

What burger joints would you like come to or expand in the Sacramento area?

Let us know in the comments…

No related posts.
