This Saturday, September 27, 2008 anyone can fish for free, without a license! So, grab the kids and the fishing rods & head to the nearest river or pond & drop in a line! This is being promoted by the State of California, Department of Fish and Game as a way to enjoy California’s natural resources. This is open to adults and children. Normal restrictions still apply on size, limit and stream closures.
There is also a “Fishing in the City” event at Elk Grove Park from 8:30am until Noon to welcome newcomers to the sport. Instructions and equipment will be available.

Admission is free thanks to a grant from Target! Check out presentations by children’s authors and illustrators on the Mother Goose stage and participate in fun literacy activities. There are special theatrical performances in the Children’s Theater all weekend long.

Target Family Fun Day: Photo Magic
October 4, 2008, 10am – 3pm
Enjoy free admission at Photo Magic: Target Family Fun Day at The California Museum on October 4, 10am-3pm. Inspired by 2007 California Hall of Fame inductee Ansel Adams, this activity filled day includes: stepping into a life-size Camera Obscura to discover how a camera works; creating a photo collage with the sun; painting with recycled materials; and personalizing a family photo album. Bring your camera to capture some great photo opportunities in front of “Only in California” scenes.
The first 500 families will receive a free gift from Family Fun Day sponsor Target.

The Ringling Bro’s & Barnum & Bailey Circus comes to Arco Arena this week. Tickets are only $11.50 and admission is free for kids two years old and younger. The The Greatest Show On Earth® will be in town from Thursday through next Sunday. The all-live performances, full of comedy, grace, color, precision, athleticism, suspense, music and the harmonious interaction of humans and animals, bring people back time and time again.

Free Concerts – General viewing is included w/ admission – be at the stage by 4pm as seating is limited.
California Family Fitness Kidz Fitness Challenge – Kids can test their fitness levels at the Kaiser Permanente Kids Park.
Camp Smokey – Kids 12 & younger can complete tasks & earn a free Smokey Bear award.
Farm Passports - Visit the farm and participate in the Kaiser Permanente Passport program & earn a prize.
Hollywood Walk of Fame – Follow the path to better health. By tracing the route on the map, you’ll take 10,000 steps, the daily minimum exercise amount recommended by professionals.

Indended to preserve, present and create California History, The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts brings history alive through the use of California State Archives and other collections. It’s also a great place to bring your children for inspiration. The Board of Trustees includes First Lady Maria Shriver, who helped to revitalize the museum. The Advisory Board includes notable historians, scholars, writers, teachers, artists and others. Visit The California Museum for History, Women and the Arts in the State Archives Building in Sacramento, CA, one block from the Capitol and enjoy 20,000 square feet of exhibits, facilities for lectures, performances, receptions and events. The museum is also home to the California Hall of Fame and Constitution Wall as well as many other current exhibits.
