Sacramento’s first burger battle took place on Tuesday, September 18, 2012 and played host to many of the area’s top burger joints. The Sacramento Burger Battle was put on by Rodney Blackwell, a long time Sacramento area resident who runs the burger review blog at burgerjunkies.com.
Restaurants included The Eatery, Restaurant Thir13en, de Vere’s Irish Pub, The Chef’s Table, The Delta King, Kupros Bistro, The Porch, Grange, Michelangelo’s, The Golden Bear, The Squeeze Inn, Ettore’s European Bakery & Restaurant, The Flaming Grill Cafe, Shady Lady Saloon, and Krush Burger.
The Chef’s Table took home the championship belt while the People’s Choice Award went to local food truck favorite Krush Burger at the inaugural Sacramento Burger Battle, held at Raley Field on September 18, 2012. The burger cook-off raised more than $27,000 for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) through ticket, merchandise, and raffle ticket sales.
